The Black Sea is a large body of water somewhere in between Southeastern Europe and Western Asia. Its waters are known to be rich in salts of potassium, calcium, magnesium and bromides. Many of these substances are extremely medicinal and excellent for the skin. Potassium helps the skin remain moisturized by keeping the skin cells hydrated. Magnesium helps keep the skin soft and flexible. Calcium helps fight aging by helping the skin to replace its dead cells with new ones. Bromides are good for cleansing and odour control. These salts improve moisture retention and help fight aging among other benefits. It is very popular as an ingredient for Spa treatment. Any concerns?
Not much. Despite its good qualities Nivea Intensive Moisture Body Lotion appears to lack some essential antioxidants, anti-acne agents and skin beneficial vitamins considering our hot humid weather which is full of bacteria and free radicals. It is not clear if Black Sea salts and their benefits are enough to protect the skin from environmental factors such as dust and bacterial infection.
