SUGARWHITE ACADEMY- Hair & Scalp in History

The care of this part of the human anatomy has been of concern to mankind since almost the dawn of human existence. Archaeologists have found evidence of hair extension and dyes used by the ancient Egyptians as far back as 3400 BC. Ancient drawings also depict scenes of Egyptian royalty having their hair styled and attended to by servants (or slaves).

The American Indians also have a rich styling and grooming culture for the hair. They are famous for wearing hair long both for men and women. The Indians attach more much spiritual significance to the hair styles.

The tribal hairstyles of sub-Saharan Africa are legendary for their richness in culture and diversity.
