Natural Beauty vs Makeup (A Male Perspective)

Dear Sugar Beauty,

Do you remember the age old arguments...which do you admire most; the ‘naturally” beautiful women or the makeup enhanced and smoking hot “fem fatal”? I cannot count how many times I’ve had that discussion. Well, I actually think that the answer lies somewhere in between.

As a guy, I appreciate waking up with my partner knowing what I see is the raw product. In the morning, at that moment, she is beautiful in a special kind of way. Crafted in God’s own hands, she is simple, uncomplicated and serene, delicate as a flower in the meadow. She remains perfectly natural and is beautiful with all of her perfections and flaws.

However, on the flip side, consider a picture image of the same flower captured on film. Its features and appearance are digitally enhanced to reveal its finest hidden beauty features. Flaws are cleverly concealed. What we now have is an almost perfect awe inspiring picture.

I think a truly beautiful woman is just the same.  She is beautiful without makeup and drop-dead gorgeous with it.

The ideal situation for me is having the perfect compromise; the best of both worlds.

Maxi White S1 Serum is a marvelous product distinctly based on Kojic acid as its lightening agent. I was surprised to discover that Kojic acid is actually a delightful replacement for Hydroquinone. It is derived from the same natural raw material as that used in making traditional Japanese "sake". I hope to share a post with you soon specifically on Kojic acid, its source,uses and characteristics. Maxi White S1 is quite an aggressive lightener and more suitable if you're looking for sharp quick results without the drawbacks of hydroquinone.

I have made an attempt to present as many of these products for you as possible with the hope that you will having a broader view of whats on offer at a glance. This will hopefully empower you to make a more informed decisions on what and what not to buy depending on your skin type and personal skin care needs. I also encourage you to independently review and research products on your own as much as possible. We can never stop learning and beauty products are the most interesting subject of all for most women. Don't forget also that the interest of male folk in cosmetics is at an all time high and the Men's Market is booming....

Having spent much of my working life in the corporate world, only now do I realize the truth behind the statements above. We never truly live until we have fulfilled our dreams which are at the core of our inner most desires. To do otherwise is to live a false life. Don't ever let go of your dreams.

A New Direction
Our generation definitely provides the link of past with the present. We must pass on the lessons of our parents while preparing our kids for an immediate future. That future should include teaching our kids to tap into the power available in the information age which allows them to create their own futures faster, better than ever before and not have it designed by someone else. Our kids must not spend their years slaving for the corporate monsters whose appetite for destroying initiative and devastating lives is insatiable. We must preserve their creativity and sense of self worth that will enable them live the lives of their dreams.
Only a soul contented in its own existence can impact society in a positive way. Too many are occupied with the daily routines of survival. We are paralyzed by fear. We embrace the very things that destroy our spirit of creativity.

Wow...that's really all I can say about this product. A men's bath liquid that actually gives you all you need. An amazing rejuvenating  fragrance that fills the whole bathroom, in fact, the whole house. Very masculine and it leaves you feeling squeaky clean...(is it possible to be too clean?). Which comes first?

Setting sprays are a staple for bridal makeup and the two pictured above are both effective and relatively inexpensive. Of course, the more expense brands such Mary Kay will give you much more staying power if you have the "money power" to afford them. Considering also that our weather is extremely hot on average an effective setting spray is key. For instance, getting stuck in Lagos traffic on a hot afternoon in a car without an air conditioner?
Yes, the question I've always wanted to ask but never get the chance; which comes first, finishing/setting powder or setting spray?

F&W Dark Spot Remover is  for treating spots and blemishes. Fair & White website states that it contains Hydroquinone and is particularly suited for localized application. In other words, apply to the affected area only and not all over the face. There are not too many positive testimonials for this product and not that much demand. However, any F&W product is worth a try based on their reputation for quality and effectiveness.

Are there any concerns?
Any product containing hydroquinone or any other aggressive skin lightening agent should be used cautiously. It is important to avoid harsh sunlight and use a broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 and above.
