7 Steps to Help You Choose the Right Body Lotion or Cream

beautybyearth.com
What is the number one beauty care question asked by women all over the country? More and more men are also asking the same question as they get increasingly sophisticated with their grooming and appearance. That question is "What cream or lotion is best for my face and body?" Anyone who has sales experience  in retail skin care will tell you how difficult a task it is to answer this question. This time we want to try a new approach. We think its better that consumers do a bit of home work first before they rush down to the shop. Here are 7 steps to help you choose the right body lotion or cream for your skin.

1) Prepare your budget
With so many products and prices  to choose from you need to determine the number one factor that will influence how you buy - money. How much are you willing to spend? I always say that people should place the highest priority on what they use on their skin. The skin is your largest organ so if you have skin problems then its a BIG problem. Skin issues can have  a devastating impact on your self confidence so you don’t want to joke about it. However, you can't spend more than whats in your pocket so determine how much you want to spend before rushing out and stick to it.

2) Determine what you want to achieve
So what are the major issues with your skin? What are the things bothering you? Are there nagging problems you want to bet rid of once and for all? Is it acne? Breakouts? Is your skin always dry or oily? Does it get itchy? Are there problems with uneven tone or do you have annoying spots? Is your face too dark? Get serious. Take time out and write all of them down in detail. Experience has taught me that most of these problems can be solved with time, patience and diligence.

3) What are the positive things you want to maintain?
Just as you have skin issues you want to treat, you also have positive attributes that you want to maintain. You need to make a list of these too. Is you skin smooth? Are you lucky to have a flawless complexion? Is your skin acne free? It is possible that a wrong choice of product can damage these positive traits and create new problems for you. So don’t take it for granted. Put as much effort into keeping and maintaining the good as well as treating or repairing the bad.

4) What are the ingredients that will benefit you
Okay. So now you know exactly what you want to achieve. Next step is to determine the ingredients that will benefit your skin. For example, if you have dry skin you need to exfoliate and moisturize regularly. That means you could need AHA’s , BHA’s combined with glycerine or petroleum jelly for example. If your skin has blemishes you may need to consider the effect of the sun on your skin and maybe choose something that will lighten such as Vitamin C, Hydroquinone, Licorice or Kojic. Seek advice from a trusted beauty care expert or retailer. You can visit our blog or any other beauty care web site that provides reliable information.  At sugarwhitebeauty.blogspot.com we regularly post content that highlights uses and benefits of many skin care products and ingredients.

5) Buy only from trusted retailer
The economy is on a down slide and people are desperate to make money anyway they can. That includes selling fake products to anyone foolish enough to buy. Don’t make the mistake of buying beauty products or cosmetics from anyone you don’t trust completely. Its important to remind yourselves that damaged skin can take months (even years) to fix. Don’t take chances! There are many honest and trust worthy retailers and supermarkets out there to choose from. Once you have identified one stick to them like glue. If ever they show signs of becoming shady then take off as fast as you can.

6) Shop, shop, shop
So now you have all the tools to achieve skin care success. You have an endless variety of products to choose from. Out of all the options a handful are just perfect for you. Your job is to find them. Some consumers choose to shop by brand and will go for those names that stand out like Olay and Clinique. Others prefer to follow the crowd and go with what works for most of their friends. Whatever you do and which ever option you take remember that the choice is yours. Its also important to know that success is not guaranteed. You may have to try a few times before you get the right product. My brands are Olay and Neutrogena because these products always work for me and it took me a while to figure it out. You can still try other products if your not satisfied with the results. Make sure you try your new product for 3 weeks at the very least. Sometimes your skin needs time to adjust to the chemicals and ingredients in your new product so be patient. Discontinue only if you start experiencing serious skin reactions. If possible try a patch test

7) Take your time, have fun
Now relax. Enjoy yourself. Its easier to take decisions when you are relaxed and not under pressure. Go shopping with a good friend (or lots of good friends!) Laugh and chat with the sales people and everybody in the shop. Ask questions (lots of them) about the products and prices. Look through as many items as possible and consider all your options. Remember that you came with a plan for what you want to buy so stick to it. Don’t get carried away. Stay focused on your goal. At the end of the day you could discover that you purchased the ideal product(s) and all your time and preparation was well worth the effort.
