Skin Bleachers & skin lighteners...what's the difference?

urgorgeous.com
Hell urban beauty faithful...Let's start by making a radical statement(again!)
There is no such thing as a bleaching cream. That's a fact. Bleaching is just a colloquial term used to describe a range of products which are used for lightening, whitening, toning , fading and a host of other terminology. Bleaching actually does not appear to exist in professional skin care or dermatology parlance.
In a minute lets quickly look at the various levels of treatment for changing skin complex.

1) Brightening - This is simply a process of removing dead skin cells on the surface of the skin using a variety of processes ranging from exfoliation, peals, masks etc This exposes younger skin cell which results in brighter more wholesome skin colour.

2) Lightening - This is the processes of restricting the production of melanin to achieve a lighter skin tone using synthetic or natural substances such hydroquinone, kojic, tretenoin, bearberry, mullberry, liquorice extracts and others. Melanin is what makes skin dark. Note that the melanin is not removed (bleaching?) instead its production is restricted which leads to a lightening of tone.

If anyone has a contrary view I would love to hear it and learn something new.

Bleaching is just urban beauty jargon used to express the shock people get when someone who looked dark few days ago suddenly turns up looking like Tonto Dike...which is okay. It's not a term we should use regularly.
I believe everyone has a right to seek true beauty in any way they choose as long as it is done safely. After all, white folks see nothing wrong in a summer "tan" for a crisp light brown or even a dark coffee brown look. Note that they choose not to call it "smoking" "charring" or "blackening". A "tan" sounds funky like something everyone should have. We should learn from that.
Enjoy your day!
