Patch test is a simple DIY (Do It Yourself) process that
allows you to monitor your skins response to skin care products. It allows you
to carefully test the products effectiveness without risking damage to your entire face or other sensitive parts of
your body.
How does it work?
The neck or back of your fore-arm are preferable
·
Apply the test product on this selected area
only
·
Monitor your skins reaction over 24 hours to a few days until
you have determined your skins response to the product
·
Analyze the condition of the test area and
decide if you would like to continue full use of the product or discard it
altogether
·
If you decide to discard then discontinue the process
and wash off the product. If the reaction is severe use milk of magnesia,
yogurt or any other cleansing treatment to flush the area.
The test can be adjusted to suit your particular circumstances or skin type. I think the inside of the hand is a good test area because it is usually exposed to sunlight which is a factor in determining the safety of your product. This test is import for facial products like day creams, night creams, cleansers and spot creams.
