Avoid using ALCOHOL or PETROLATUM based lotions
for your tattoo. They tend to fade out the colour and make the tattoo lose its
sharpness.

Avoid excess lotion in order not to block the
pores of the skin. Blocked poors are unhealthy for your skin and hence your
tatto.

Always allow scabs to flake off on its own
naturally. Don’t pick at or peal them off. Flaking and picking at you tattoo could lead
to hypertrophy or keloids.

Sunscreen is a daily essential for anyone
sporting a tattoo (SPF 30 and above). The sun bleaches colour. Your tattoo is
not an exception. Cover your tattoo when outdoors especially during the early
days.

There are specialized product ranges for tattoo skin
care. Most come in “kits” such as H2Ocean and Tattoo goo.
6.
The healing period is a particularly sensitive
period. After bandage removal most artist advice a gentle wash with unscented
anti bacterial liquid soap and hot water.

There are no special ink for dark skin. Darker
skin requires care in selection of colours in order to create a sharper
impression.
8.
Don’t scratch your tattoo. Scratch anywhere else
(scratch your butt) but not your tattoo.
9.
Anti-bacterial ointments are not particularly
good for tattoos
10. Tattoo
after care advice may vary from artist to artist so be sure to follow
instructions carefully. Don’t be afraid to ask questions when in doubt or
when you have concerns.
